If your Humax Receiver is not getting a signal, it can be frustrating. There are a lot of things that could be causing this, so it can get overwhelming if you're not technically savvy. Luckily, there are a lot of good fixes that are super easy to perform.
The top issues with a receiver not getting the signal are caused by cable connections, weather, satellite orientation and power issues.
Now without further ado, here's how to fix the problem so you can get back to your favourite guilty pleasure show.

There's good news and bad news here. Let's start with the good, shall we? Most of the issues that will occur with your Humax receiver will generally sort themselves out with minimal effort. The bad news, however, is that if they don't - you've got a bit of work ahead of you to figure out the cause.
We'll work our way down the list in terms of ease of access, and eventually get to the more involved fixes as we go.
Take a look outside for me, will you? Now, do you see a storm or heavy winds? Is it snowing, or has snow built up? If so, this is likely the cause of your Humax receiver not getting a signal.
The nice thing is that you have to do absolutely nothing to fix this issue. The downside, however, is that you can't use your dish until the weather clears up. It operates just like any satellite dish, meaning severe weather can cause issues with connectivity and performance.
Let's assume that weather's not the issue and move on down the list, shall we?
How's your power doing? Have you checked the breakers? This is a commonly overlooked solution that could be the source of your problem.
Check your breaker - if it's tripped on the circuit to which your devices are connected, consider moving them to another circuit. Sometimes you just have too many devices on one circuit, which can cause a whole host of issues.
An additional step you can add here to save time in the future is to do a full power cycle of all devices connected to your Humax receiver. Yes, the classic, "turn it off and back on again" is common for a reason - it usually works.
You can perform a power cycle by removing the device in question from all power (usually unplugging it) and waiting for a minute or so for it to discharge any remaining power. Once that's done, plug it back in and reboot the device. If it works, great! If not - move down the list.
Connections are a major part of any electronic's functions, obviously. This means that your first step should be to check all - yes, all of the connections related to your receiver. Make sure power is securely attached, as are all HDMI connectors and internet supplies.
If wiggling a cable causes the picture to pop in or out, that's a sign of an old cable that needs replacing. If you're technically savvy, just order a new one and pop that sucker into place and you should be good to go. Otherwise, call a pro (or customer service) to get the problem resolved.
Now that you've checked all connections, let's try doing a channel scan. If you're getting channels, then the problem resolved itself in some way or another. If not, the next best bet is to perform the first-time install process (essentially a hard reset) on the device.
This will occasionally fix the issue, but it's not guaranteed.
Check your dish's alignment. Especially if you've been working near it recently, it's possible that it's simply been knocked out of place, preventing it from connecting. If this is the case, you have two options.
The first one is to do it yourself and have another person tell you when the connection is restored as you move the dish around. The other, less involved (but more expensive) option is to call an installer to fix the issue.
This second solution, while costing money, is often the most effective way to resolve connectivity issues.
Okay, here's the one you've been dreading. Call customer support. If none of these fixes has solved the issue, and the weather is clear, it's time to ask for help. Sometimes that's just how it goes - and professionals exist only so they can be called to help.
Now here's a solution that I'm personally a big fan of - get a streaming device. Satellites are great for those that are in the boonies, but if you have access to a streaming device and decent internet, it may be time to make the switch to the 21st century.
Streaming boxes are popular for a reason - they cut weather out of the equation and are easier to troubleshoot than satellite dishes. If you're not sure where to start, Freesat is a great option that actually works in tandem with Humax.

If your Humax receiver is not getting a signal, there are a lot of variables to look at before giving up. Check your cables to ensure they're secured properly, especially if you've had some nasty weather recently. Ensure the satellite dish is oriented properly, and make sure the weather isn't really bad as that can often affect your connection.
Other things to check are tripped breakers, and potentially doing a reinstall or power cycle of the device. And if none of the above steps work, consider calling customer support and a professional installer. They'll generally solve the problem, though it may cost you a bit of money.
My favourite solution is to simply ditch the satellite altogether and move into 2021 with a streaming box, such as Freesat. This will allow you access to local channels, as well as the ability to stream Netflix or Hulu shows.
